Do You Recognize This?

Yes, you are correct.
It IS a pen.
But it's more than a pen.
Do you know, or rather - do you remember what the purpose of the other end of this pen was?
It has become virtually obsolete.
My husband found it in a desk drawer, and when he asked me, I did not know what it was.
HE remembered, but he's a little older than me.
In most of today's households, you would not need to use the top of this pen for it's original, intended use.
Here in our house, however, we still can:

If we need to.

I can honestly say I've never seen one of those pens before! But next time I do see one at an estate sale, I'll know! LOL

I have seen other kinds of dialing aids, but not that pen. Definitely unique. Love T

I am so jealous of your red phone. There used to be a red phone in the Oval Office whose sole purpose was to declare nuclear war. If the prez picked it up, there was a General on the other end instantly and all he would have to hear was "Launch the Nukes!". Always wanted one for that reason!

Since I have mentioned my age on my blog I guess I can admit that I, too, remember the dialing pen. It really was quite handy to have around. Love your red phone!!!

i loved having a rotary phone - people would pick up the receiver to use it and look so mystified! brought one with us to michigan but the connection wasn't that great and being it was in the kitchen - the receiver was always getting off when with of us was working in the kitchen. so, alas, no rotary phone. at least i can say i had one regularly up until 2006

I loved rotary phones too. My wife and I were just talking about missing them a few days ago.

You can tell if folks are beyond a certain age by the phone number they grew up with. Friends used to call me at CHerry 3-0663.

Does anyone remember when "high tech" call-waiting came in? "My, what will they think of next!"
